Marshmallow Shooters

This is a super fun and easy activity for any age.  I have made these two times now.  Once for my son's 8th birthday and once a few weeks ago for his Boy Scout troop (he's now 14).  Both times were a hit and the whole family got involved.

For the birthday, we made the shooters and had them aim at different targets in the yard.  I made the targets with a printed bulls-eye's and a paper plate stapled to the wall.  I used Chinet plates because they are a little thicker and I have added a bulls-eye printable for you to use.

More recently, they made the shooters (and each boy tried to make a more elaborate one than the others) and then shot at each other.  Marshmallow wars!

Here's how to make this simple project for hours of fun!

What you'll need:
1/2" pvc pipe.  (You will need approx. 19" per shooter)
1/2" tee x 1
1/2" cap x 1  (Make sure to NOT buy the threaded pieces when shopping.)
1/2" elbows x 2
leftover spray paint
pvc glue?

Cut the PVC pipe into 5 pieces. 1 piece should be 7" and then you will need to cut the rest into 3" pieces, totaling 4.  Then assemble them as shown.  If you want to make the pieces permanent, you can also get some pvc pipe glue...but be sure to wait at least 24 hours after gluing before use.  That glue is very strong.

You can spray paint crazy colors like we did with leftover spray paint and let the kids build their own, or you can paint them a rainbow of colors before hand and let the kids just play like

Or, you can just order them with Washi tape for a sweeter look over at Green Sheep Blog.  Still super fun!

Woah, Valentine. 2016

Well, B has an undying love for horses♥.  And after seeing the Valentine inspiration from The Decorated Cookie's 2014 post, I was sold on making an equestrian themed card for B's classroom.
I found a bucket of 60 horses at Target, Terra by Battat™ for about $8.00.  Also, bought some thin ribbon, white card stock and got to work.

Finally after a few failed designs, I came up with "Woah, Valentine.  I'm not horsin' around when I say I'm glad you're my friend."  I love these little cards and I'm proud to say it's a sugar free valentine treat for the class!

My Master Bath Redo

This summer was quite a to do at the Leni home.  As part of the bargain struck for little Asher, DH promised me a new master bath to recover in.  I could think of nothing worse than coming home with a newborn and having to use the dated, gross bathroom that was attached to the master bedroom. Ewww.

So, just as promised if not a little behind schedule, a new bathroom project was started at my six month mark.  As usual, at first it was fun picking tile, fixtures and seeing the daily progress but watching my growing belly and feeling my waning energy level soon replaced the excitement with time frame anxiety. Needless to say, while most women do nest during their pregnancy, I was doing some EXTREME nesting, endless dusting and mopping and sleeping on the couch. Forget all the normal practices like getting all the clothes and bedding ready, I just wanted to have a home that was not covered in an inch of construction dust when that little baby arrived.

But, in the nick of time a new bathroom was finished, just as I was about to deliver our newest addition. Actually, it was 99% done with one week to spare....which left me a little time for washing, folding and setting up Asher's room. As the final remodel push, the shower door was installed while I was in the hospital.  Promise fulfilled!

Quite the nail biter, I must admit, but the results have been well worth the hot, dusty and disorganized summer.  I love my new bathroom.  Thanks DH, for both new additions. ♥
